Through its member associations, the Council represents the views of people giving reiki to the public across the four countries of the UK. It is a non-profit making body that sets standards and guidelines and provides information and advice. The Reiki Council aims to offer a platform for all styles of Usui Reiki and its guidelines are non-style specific. As the lead body for Reiki practitioners in the UK, the Council believes all publicly practising reiki practitioners can choose if they wish to join a national register and who they prefer to register with. Currently, there is no legal requirement or obligation for reiki practitioners to register with any regulatory authority in the UK. The Federation of Holistic Therapists: https://www.fht.org.uk Established in 1962, the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) is the largest professional association for complementary, holistic beauty and sports therapists, as well as those starting out or teaching in this exciting and growing industry. It provides practical support to its members and protects the public's health by ensuring high standards in both training and practice. The Centre for Reiki Research: http://www.centerforreikiresearch.org/ This site provides information supporting the effectiveness of reiki based on scientific research. The International Center for Reiki Training: http://www.reiki.org/ Founded as a Spiritual Development Center in 1988 by its President, William Lee Rand, the ICRT added Reiki training to its curriculum a year later, and in 1997 international Reiki training became its sole focus alongside its Licensed Teacher Program. The ICRT practises its own style of Reiki whilst acknowledging the value offered by other schools and lineages. It encourages students to research the Reiki training available to them and use their intuitive guidance in deciding who to take classes with.
